First Aid & Illness
Illness
If your child becomes ill during the school day, you will be contacted as soon as possible to take your child home.
If your child cannot take part in any school activities on your Doctor's advice, please send an explanatory note to the class teacher prior to the scheduled activity.
Visit the 'Attendance' page for further information about illness and absence.
Accidents and emergencies
The school is able to give first aid for minor accidents. In the event of a more serious accident or emergency happening, parents will be contacted as soon as possible and appropriate medical attention sought as necessary.
Medicine
Staff are normally prepared to administer a medicine provided:
- The medicine has been prescribed by a GP or hospital
- The appropriate form about the medication has been completed by the parent (forms are available from the school office)
- The school is kept fully informed about how to administer the medicine
- The medicine is given to the office for safe keeping
Under no circumstances can staff give medicines which are not prescribed by a Doctor, nor can we give drugs such as aspirin or paracetamol if your child has a headache or toothache.
If your child suffers from asthma, please obtain an inhaler for use in school as needed and ensure the school have it on site at all times.
